We are local people, passionate about creating a bar and dining experience in our hometown of Berkhamsted that is truly independent and unique. Every element from the interiors to the menus has been personally curated by the small and dedicated Copper House team, and every detail matters to us.
As a destination venue, we are a hosted bar & brasserie that welcomes both advance bookings and the casual passer by for both drinks and dining.
Of course, we can’t always guarantee a seat or standing position so always recommend to our guests to book in advance to avoid disappointment, particularly on a Friday and Saturday, not forgetting the traditional Bank Holidays too.

Being locals, supporting other local businesses is very important to us for sourcing our food and drink. Quality is the most important criteria for all sourcing decisions, and we have found the best, as well as the most local suppliers to work with who we are proud to partner with at Copper House.
Chiltern Fish & Game – Tring
Based down the road in Aldbury, Tring – Craig and James are the Head Chefs come founders of Chiltern Fish & Game. For them it is personal. They don’t just send us a repeat order from a mass delivery but are on a mission to provide us with the freshest, seasonal ingredients, coming to site with their van and today’s catch of the day for our Head Chef to take his pick from.
Hallgarten & Novum Wines - Luton
Multiple award winning Hallgarten & Novum Wines, have spent the last 80 years building their portfolio of over 1,000 specialist wines and have just been crowned European Merchant of the Year. Their Master of Wine lives in Berkhamsted and is leading the training to support our Copper House team know the facts behind every sip we serve.
Smiths Coffee & Tea – Hemel Hempstead
Established in 1936, Smiths is a family-owned coffee roasters based in Hemel Hempstead. They supply a range of Organic and Fairtrade coffee beans, and one of the exciting features of our partnership with them is a specially chosen blend for our Espresso Martinis. Come in and discover your favourite style of coffee created by our Smiths’ trained baristas.
As you can see from this small selection of our partners, we love to keep things local. We could only feature a handful of stories here, but there are so many more, from our amazing craft beer and ale selection from Freedom Brewery through to our fabulous ice creams and sorbet from Chiltern Ice Cream Company.
